Overview 

In order to provide a secure user experience, you may have multiple ABACUS service accounts with different usernames and passwords which we will outline below. Password descriptions for ABACUS Studio (Desktop and Cloud), as well as ABACUS Enterprise, the Collaboration Server, and Knowledge Portal will be outlined below in detail.

Knowledge Portal 

  • What is it? 

  • The Knowledge Portal is the place where Avolution’s solution articles, forums and help desk access is located. As a new user, you will be provided with a Knowledge Portal activation email from Avolution Support. You will be asked to create your own unique password for accessing the Knowledge Portal. If you need an activation email, please request one from: support@avolutionsoftware.com. Your username is your email address. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • Yes, if you forget your password, there is an option on the login screen “Forgot your password?” where you can reset your password. 

  • Who can change this password? 

  • The user can change their own Knowledge Portal password on the login screen. 

  • Avolution Support is also able to reset a forgotten password. 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • This will affect the password used to login to your Knowledge Portal Account.  

 

ABACUS Studio – Desktop 

ABACUS Project file Password: 

  • What is it?  

  • This password is used to access a specific project on ABACUS Studio. Project credentials are specific to the ABACUS project file you want to access. This password is managed in File > Manage Users/Groups in ABACUS Studio. 

  • If Windows Username Authentication is enabled, you will automatically be logged into the project with the Windows username for the current user and will not be prompted to enter ABACUS project credentials. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • Yes, this password can be changed, by the ABACUS Project Administrator. 

  • Who can change this password? 

  • Only an ABACUS Project Administrator can change this password. 

  • How to change this password: 

  • To change this password, the ABACUS Project Administrator will navigate to File > Manage Users/Groups, select the intended user, select Edit User, change the password, and save and commit changes. After committing these changes in ABACUS Studio, it will take about 5 minutes to be updated in ABACUS Enterprise. Alternatively, an ABACUS Enterprise Administrator user may login to ABACUS Enterprise and choose the option to “Update from Repository” to skip the 5-minute automatic update interval. 

  • **If Windows Username Authentication is enabled, but you want to change a user’s project credentials, the ABACUS Project Administrator will uncheck “Windows Username Login”, change the password, and then re-enable “Windows Username Login”, save and commit changes. After committing these changes in ABACUS Studio in the Cloud, it will take about 5 minutes to be updated in ABACUS Enterprise. Alternatively, an ABACUS Enterprise Administrator user may login to ABACUS Enterprise and choose the option to “Update from Repository” to skip the 5 minutes it takes ABACUS Enterprise to update from the repository. 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • This password change will affect the password used to access the ABACUS project file.  

  • If ABACUS Enterprise authentication is setup to authenticate with the ABACUS project file credentials, then this password change would also affect your ABACUS Enterprise password. (See “ABACUS Enterprise User Credentials” below for ABACUS Enterprise authentication methods). 

 

ABACUS Studio – in the Cloud (ABACUS Cloud) 

Temporary ABACUS Studio in the Cloud Password:  

  • What is it? 

  • This temporary password is only for initial login when accessing ABACUS Cloud for the first time. This allows users to create a unique password. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • No  

  • Who can change this password? 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • This password change will affect the password used to login to ABACUS Studio in the Cloud. 

 

ABACUS Studio in the Cloud Login Password:  

  • What is it? 

  • This password is used for accessing your ABACUS Studio in the Cloud (ABACUS Cloud) account. After you have changed your temporary password, you will be required to login using your unique ABACUS Cloud password. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • Yes. ABACUS Studio in the Cloud users can change their own passwords at any time. Users may also request a new temporary password if they forget their password. 

  • ABACUS Studio in the Cloud users who authenticate using SSO will not receive a temporary password and will not be able to change their own password. 

  • Who can change this password? 

  • ABACUS Studio in the Cloud users can select “Forgot Password” on the ABACUS Cloud login page and follow the on-screen instructions to reset their password. 

  • Alternatively, you may submit a request to Avolution Support at support@avolutionsoftware.com for a password reset. 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • This password change will affect the password used to login to ABACUS Studio in the Cloud. 


ABACUS Project file Password: 

  • Please refer to the ABACUS Project file password found in the “ABACUS Studio – Desktop” section above. 

 

ABACUS Enterprise

ABACUS Enterprise Admin Password: 

  • What is it? 

  • This password exists to be able to initially checkout the project onto the ABACUS Enterprise site or to recover the ABACUS Enterprise site from improper configuration. This password is managed by Avolution or the ABACUS Project Administrator depending on if Avolution is hosting the ABACUS Enterprise site or if it is installed on-premises, respectively. 

  • For on-premises installations, ABACUS Enterprise ships with the following default username and password and it is strongly recommended that the password be changed upon first login: 

  • Username: admin 

  • Password: password 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • Yes  

  • Who can change this password? 

  • The ABACUS Enterprise administrator user may change this password. 

  • When Avolution is hosting ABACUS Enterprise, this password may be reset by Avolution at the request of the customer.  

  • For on-premises installations, the server administrator can change this password if required.  

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • This password change will affect your ability to initially setup or recover the ABACUS Enterprise site. 

 

ABACUS Enterprise User Password: 

**ABACUS Enterprise User Credentials are managed through Manage Users/Groups on ABACUS Studio. 

  • What is it? 

  • This password is used to access your ABACUS Enterprise site. How you access ABACUS Enterprise will depend on the authentication method setup on your site. Authentication may be setup in one of the following ways: 

  • Your ABACUS project file credentials 

  • The default authentication method for ABACUS Enterprise is to authenticate with the ABACUS project file credentials. 

  • Single Sign-On (SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, or WS-Federation) 

  • Active Directory Credentials 

  • How do I change it? 

  • If you are using ABACUS project file credentials, to change this password, contact your ABACUS Project Administrator (this password is managed in Manage Users/Groups within ABACUS Studio) 

  • For SSO users, your password is managed by your company’s identity provider. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • Yes 

  • Who can change this password? 

  • Because ABACUS Enterprise credentials are the same as that used in ABACUS Studio, you will follow the same directions as changing your ABACUS Studio project credentials. 

  • To change this password, the ABACUS Project Administrator will navigate to File > Manage Users/Groups, select the intended user, select Edit User, and change the password. 

  • If Windows Username Authentication is enabled, but you want to change a user’s project credentials, you will need to uncheck “Windows Username Login”, change the password, and then re-enable “Windows Username Login”, Save and Commit changes. 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • Changing your ABACUS Studio project file password will allow you to login to ABACUS Enterprise using the new password. 

 

 

Collaboration Server

Collaboration Server/Repository Credentials: 

  • What is it? 

  • The Collaboration Server URL and Credentials are used within both ABACUS Studio and ABACUS Enterprise. 

  • Can this password be changed? 

  • When Avolution is hosting the Collaboration Server, this password cannot be changed.  

  • If Avolution is hosting and you have forgotten your Collaboration Server credential, please submit a support request to Avolution Support at support@avolutionsoftware.com 

  • For on-premises installations, customers may be able to change this password.  

  • Who can change this password? 

  • When Avolution is hosting the Collaboration Server, the credentials cannot be changed. New credentials may be created on an as-needed basis upon request via Avolution Support. 

  • For on-premises installations, the server administrator may allow users to change their Collaboration Server password. 

  • What is the impact of this change? 

  • If a new credential is created or on-premises password has been changed, this new password will be required when checking out your ABACUS project.
